SACRED was born from a relationship–between Kavitha and Kester.

Their relationship was more than a union of two people–it was the convergence of diverse ancestries, traditions, and communities,  coming together to uplift one another and pursue a shared purpose.

KAVITHA

I was born into a Chettiar family in Southern India. My childhood was bittersweet. Fond memories of climbing trees, flying kites, playing with marbles, and eating adhirasam were interwoven with painful memories of a toxic childhood— experiencing sexual abuse, and feeling my way through suffocating, society-normalised discrimination toward women.

Deep inside me, there was always this burning desire to break free from the cycles that trapped generations of women before me. I wanted to feel empowered like the strong Dravidian women of my ancestry.

KESTER

I was born into a third-generation Teochew-Hokkien immigrant family in Singapore. My childhood was filled with the warmth of a big extended family, yet beneath it lay expectations–to follow a set path of “graduate-get job-BTO-get married-have children.”

As a sensitive child, I struggled with school, friendships, and sexuality. I often felt I wasn’t “manly” enough. To fit in, I buried my emotions and became a pleaser–a “nice guy.”

But deep down, I kept wondering: Is there more to life than this?

KAVITHA

In 2005, I moved to Singapore, hoping to start afresh. As cabin crew with Singapore Airlines, I experienced many different cultures and human behavioural patterns until resigning in 2012. I completed a Master's Degree in Healthcare Management in 2014, which coincided with my divorce from my first marriage. This personal upheaval prompted me to seek healing and deeper purpose.

For six years, I worked in healthcare research at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the National University of Singapore. In 2016, I remarried and gave birth to my son Jace. My personal struggles with both marriages intensified my interest in understanding human pain and suffering. When Jace turned one, I had a profound spiritual experience that revealed the root causes of my own suffering.

When Jace was two, I decided to end my second marriage, focusing instead on breaking ancestral patterns and shifting from victim to hero. I resigned from NUS to pursue yogic studies in India.

KESTER

In 2007, a journalism internship in Nepal exposed me to new ways of living–and being. I met monks, villagers, activists. It cracked open my worldview and deepened my longing to find a life of meaning.

I joined the foreign service in 2010, hoping to understand how the world really works. I witnessed firsthand how relationships–between people, organisations, and nations–shape everything. I saw how fear, competition, and love each fuel different realities. I asked myself: Which one do I want to live in?

In 2014, a diplomatic posting to India brought me back to the Himalayas. There, I found answers to questions I had been carrying for years. But when I returned to Singapore in 2017, I felt lost again. The plans I had no longer fit. Finally, I surrendered to the universe: I don’t know what I’m doing. You put me here, so use me.

That surrender led me down a spiritual path, eventually leaving my job in 2019.

FOUNDING OF INTRACRESCO

2019

In 2019, Kavitha founded Intracresco® (meaning “inner growth” in Latin) as a wellness company offering yoga and meditation. She knew in her heart that Intracresco was meant to become something bigger–a true community.

That same year, Kavitha and Kester (K&K) met at a meditation centre in Singapore. While organising events as volunteers at the centre, they discovered a common interest in building intentional communities.

COMING TOGETHER

Kester joined Intracresco in 2020. As Intracresco grew, K&K’s friendship blossomed into romance. In May 2022, K&K got married.

As partners in life and work, their marriage was filled with intense highs and lows. Their constant conflicts pushed them to go deeper into understanding the root causes of human suffering. They trained in various therapy and counselling methods to heal themselves and their relationship.

When K&K lasered their focus to individual and couples therapy, Intracresco helped hundreds of clients experience personal transformations, while also educating thousands more through public initiatives.

BIRTH OF SACRED

2023

Present

As K&K’s work with clients deepened, a clear pattern emerged: Many found healing in therapy but struggled to build supportive relationships in everyday life. They craved deeper connections but lacked the tools to create them.

K&K observed how relationships are often left on autopilot, without intention or care. Yet relationships, like all things sacred, require nurturing.

K&K discovered that true healing happens in relation, not isolation. They observed how many people swing between extreme independence and losing themselves in relationships, not realising that individuality and deep connection can coexist.

This insight birthed SACRED—a movement empowering people to cultivate conscious, intentional relationships.
